Overview
The Pediatric Pharmacy Chemotherapy Order Set Coordinator II is responsible for participating in the development and standardization of Oncology-related content in clinical trials and standard of care (SOC) treatments for protocol order template development and standardization as well as the protocol order validation process across multiple institutions.
The Pediatric Pharmacy Chemotherapy Order Set Coordinator II will extract the required content from a clinical trial or SOC treatment to develop a comprehensive profile of orders. As part of a team comprised of nurses and pharmacists, the Pediatric Pharmacy Chemotherapy Order Set Coordinator II will collaborate with a multidisciplinary clinical team within the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and with Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) pursuant to defined standardization, accuracy, and consistency of content.

Responsibilities
Content Development/Coordination for Order Set Build:
- Coordinate clinical content for Beacon protocol (PRL) and Cerner order development/maintenance for both Clinical Trial and SOC, oncology therapy plans, order sets, and biotherapy templates as part of the order entry system
- Organize content obtained from a source of truth (clinical trial documents, NCCN guidelines, compendia-supported literature) and work with local subject matter experts (SME) to create clinical trial and SOC protocol orders and ensure standardization across all the protocol builds
- Research medical databases for new supportive clinical-based practice evidence for SOC treatments and create/update existing SOC treatments as new clinical data becomes available
- Participate in standardization efforts that will impact protocol content
Protocol Validation Support:
- Collaborate and support the protocol order set validation process and order entry systems involving a multidisciplinary team of SMEs at DFCI and BCH
- Validate protocol builds by testing complexity, reviewing standardization, appropriateness, accuracy, and completeness based on the source of truth protocol
Other:
- Assess and develop workflows in accordance with the BCH collaboration and the pediatric outpatient clinic
- Communicate revisions for active patient order management to clinicians
- Work toward an understanding of daily/weekly workload and the timelines required for protocol review as well as the ability to prioritize the work
- Additional responsibilities may include participation in project work or protocol maintenance project work under supervision (as needed)
Qualifications
The Pediatric Pharmacy Chemotherapy Order Set Coordinator II must meet the following requirements to be hired and maintain their position in the Pharmacy Department at the DFCI:
Minimum Education:
Bachelor of Science Degree in either Nursing or Pharmacy required.
Minimum Experience:
7 years of experience in oncology is required. Experience working with content development for electronic orders in various IT business applications or other health information systems/applications and pediatrics is preferred. Familiar with clinical trials preferred. Familiar with healthcare computer software (Epic Beacon/Willow, Cerner, etc.) preferred.
License/Certification/Registration:
Registered as a Nurse or Pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

- Good organizational and time management skills, with an ability to prioritize multiple projects and assignments.
